My bike, and Owners guide are in another City waiting for me to come back and ride it. I have not read about this in that guide or the service manual yet.

I rode last weekend and drove from Edmonton Alberta to Kelowna BC through the Rockies. About three hours of my ride, the bike thermometer read "0" degrees celcius. Now the temp was likely quite accurate. The 10 hour ride went from a high of 9C down. I understand generally we don't ride much at these temps, but it struck me that when the bike was reading 0 for an hour or so at a time, perhaps it doesn't read below that temperature. I think I would prefer to see when the temperatures are below 0 and by how much..

Anyone have this experience or know if the bike will read colder temps? I was riding an '08 Victory Vision..

For my American friends, have you seen the bike show temps below 32 F?

Thanks..

I have seen down to 27F, lots of folks say their bikes won't get below 32F.

Mine seems fairly accurate until it gets below freezing, then it drops down to display -9*. I know it isnt that cold! I have seen it show 30-31* a few times, but mostly it just drops down to -9*.

This exact thing has been talked about on other forums. The -9 when hovering around 32F seems to be very common from what I have read.

The day I took delivery of the bike in mid January in Toronto was the day I went for my first ride on it with the temp. guage set on the celery scale. In my driveway in the sun it was showing +3 but once I got moving it told me it was really -3 celsius and I believed it.

Do you put peanut butter or cheese whiz on the celery.  :)

I have seen mine read 25 in my driveway but according to my high tech mercury thermometer it was only 32.  It seems to be real accurate between 50-90 degrees but after 90 it starts getting whacky to?

OK, so my thermometer has been able to show 25 F before, so I haven't seen the  -9 thing yet. I also have no trouble in the upper registers, since I regularly had 107-113F last summer (and expect the same this year....)

Did your right leg catch on fire when the temp. guage was reading 113F?

I have a question. Do you guys who ride in sub-frezing temps find that the effects of the drugs you are on, make it hard to focus on the road ahead?

No, it's the mind numbing temperatures that lead to brain freeze which eventually causes blurred vision. It's impossibe to swallow any pills when your lips are frozen together.
