Easy Reach or Custom Clutch Lever

Does anyone know of clutch levers that are helpful to those of us with smaller hands? I installed a hydraulic clutch on my '09 Kingpin Low and the friction zone is much further out than before. I have been told that there is no fix for this. Any thoughts on a replacement clutch lever? I have searched on line and have come up with nothing.
Thanks everyone!

Hi Darnell! How's it going in the ole' AZ? CycleOps has some sweet custom levers but I don't think they are going to get you any closer. They are some serious bling though.

You might take a look at the Ness Rad III controls. I seem to remember they are an easier pull than stock.

If you take the lever off and take it to a metal shop or any competent mechanic they can tweak it to get where you need it.

Be darn careful with the Vic levers, they are cast aluminum and the underside has a scoring to it as a breaking point, you can feel the spot..a line on the underside. It will break right there.. I snapped one of mine last year in the trailer on the way to Daytona. They are almost $100 for replacements.

Thanks for the advice, I was just on my way to the local machine shop to see if they can bring it in a little. I'm gonna get their thoughts on the situation.

It would be nice if someone built the twist clutch grips for the Vics. I wonder how well they work thou. Does it twist when you take off or stop quick? Custom bikes have them. Maybe a foot clutch? :)
I think the tough part is the curve of a new lever and making sure the clutch disengages completely. EZ Clutch does NOT disengage completely no matter how much you adjust and several clutches have been burned out using them. Maybe they have figured it out by now but I have not heard. I have 2 old ones in my tool box...

I would like a clutch lever that is not so bent out from the bar.  It would make the grip a lot more comfortable for smaller hands.   Haven't been able to find a solution for it yet.  Anyone have luck with it yet.

Does having it machined bring it in?  .

Joan B, I am going to contact a local bike builder to see if he can modify the levers to bring them closer or to create new ones.

I saw in EZ pull cam on a new XC at a dealer. It mounts down near the case and makes the clutch MUCH easier to pull in. Don't know who makes it, was an aftermarket item not made by Vic.

Cool!  Let me know what he/she says.  I had a neck injury which I'm recovering from but it's left me weak in my left arm and hand.  Finding a solution would be awesome.  I'm using a grip strengthener to improve between now and the riding season and hope my strength comes back fully.

Bikendad,

I believe the EZ pull is for cable only, not hydraulic. Belles AZ is trying to have a EZ pull fabricated for her Kingpin that is hydraulic. So far, it hasn't been successful.
My biggest concern is that the lever is so far away the friction zone is at the end of my reach. When I am releasing the clutch on a right hand turn is really hard to control as my left hand is extended and I have fingertip control only of the clutch.
