I'm planning on going up to a 10.5, 280mm tire on my Hammer. Any  pro's & cons about this move? Let me know.

1. apparantly it goes straight in only draw back is slower cornering but should look the bollocks by tooty311 2. I just did it used the Metzler 280 great tire so far no issues in the corner by hammer2007

I have been reading some about this for a while.  Have read a bunch on the different types of tires, heard the Meltzer is a good tire for Rain or Dry ridding.

Not saying the 280 wouldn't work.  I would be more concerned about the rim and how it will handle the tire once heated or when doing twisties.  I think there is a reason Vic put on the 250.

I also heard about people only getting 5K on the stock tires.  I currently have 5K on mine and it still looks great.  Maybe it's just the way I ride.  Show some pictures if you get the 280.  Good luck!
