In our ongoing coverage of all the models in the Victory lineup, here’s the information on the 2009 Victory Vegas Jackpot.

Now, let me state this right up front: While Victory places the Jackpot in the Vegas series, it’s truly in its own category. While the Vegas Jackpot shares the Vegas’ front end, handlebars, signature fuel tank with the raised spine, it features a different seat, side covers, engine, frame, rear fender, rear tire and wheel and its own line of accessories. The best way to describe this bike is that it’s a Vegas upfront with the fat tire features that are similar to the Hammer in the rear. With that said and acknowledged, we decided to do the same as Victory and keep the Jackpot in the Vegas lineup here on TheVOG, Now let’s start with the returning features of the Jackpot, then I’ll show you what’s new for 2009.

The returning features that you’ll find in the 2009 Vegas Jackpot are its unique headlight design, a premium suspension, the signature fuel tank with the raised spine, scalloped sides, and split tail that integrates with the seat along. Of course, it includes its attention-grabbing, signature, super-fat 250 millimeter rear.

The Vegas Jackpot has undergone a major overhaul for 2009. In my opinion the biggest upgrade on this bike is the engine as it now includes the new 106 cubic inch, 1731cc Freedom V-Twin Engine with Stage 2 Cams that generate 97 horsepower and 113 foot pounds of torque as well as Closed Loop Fuel Injection. It’s paired with a six speed transmission with overdrive. Hey, this baby’s built for speed! (While the 106 cubic inch engine was available on the Vision last year, it’s been tweaked for this cruiser to generate more horsepower and torque.

Now, let’s get to the new features. For 2009, the Vegas Jackpot has a new one-piece seat and Black Cast wheels. Like many of the other 2009 models, the Vegas Jackpot has been upgraded with a new taillight that incorporates multiple LEDs that promise to produce twice the brightness while running or breaking. For the first time, the Vegas Jackpot is pre-wired for Cruise Control and can be easily added at anytime by the dealer.  Of course, like other accessories, an additional charge will apply if you choose to add the Cruise Control unit. But hey, just having the wiring in place is a good thing as it saves you time and money if you decide to add this feature.

The Vegas Jackpot also receives a new headlight treatment that features easy bulb replacement by simply removing two 4mm socket head bolts. The headlight’s reflector is new as well and promises to provide a brighter, more uniform light pattern on the road. And yes, a 4mm Allen wrench is included on the Unitool and it stows away under the side cover so you’ll know where it is when you need it.

Here’s a solid functional upgrade. The Jackpot now includes a new Fuel Pump and Fuel Tank. The Fuel Pump assembly is now designed to be easy to install and service. Now here’s something really cool:  New for 2009 is a new tilt sensor that shuts off the fuel pump if the bike tips over and keeps it off until the ignition key resets the system. And in the tip over arena is also a new two-piece die cast foot peg that provides improved durability in the case of a tip over. The brake and shift lever pivot and are now made of steel and according to the factory are less prone to breakage if the bike happens to fall on its side. While it’s not the same as the Vision’s Tip Over Protection, it appears to be a step in the right direction.

Now it’s time for an editorial comment: In the past, I felt that the colored tank badge was a nice touch to the bike. It let others know, at a glance, that you’re riding something different from other V-Twin cruisers. Well, those colored badges are now a thing of the past as starting with the 2009 models, all of Victory’s cruisers will be sporting a new Monochrome tank badge. I have to admit that the new monochrome badge blends with every color as opposed to standing out and it does look cool. Now, it’s your turn. Go to TheVOG.net and select Polls and cast your vote to state whether you prefer the old Color or the new Monochrome badge. Remember, although anyone can view everything on TheVOG, only registered members can participate in the forums, upload photos or videos or participate in polls. Registration is free and we don’t ask any intrusive questions.

Now, let’s check out the new colors for the 2009 Victory Vegas Jackpot:

Solid Boardwalk Blue, Solid Sunset Red, Orange Crush with Extreme Graphics, Lucky Lime with Extreme Graphics and of course Solid Black.
