The returning features of the single-seater 2009 Vegas 8-Ball is its signature fuel tank with the raised spine, scalloped sides and split tail that integrate with the seat along with its 100 cubic inch, 1634cc Freedom V-Twin Engine that generates 85 horsepower and 106 foot pounds of torque.  This engine is paired with a five speed transmission.

New for 2009, the Vegas 8-Ball gets a newly styled taillight that incorporates multiple LEDs that promise to produce twice the brightness while running or breaking. All of the Vegas models are now pre-wired for Cruise Control and this option can be easily added at anytime by the dealer. Of course, like other accessories, an additional charge will apply for the Cruise Control itself… but hey, the wiring is included and that’s a good thing.

The Vegas 8-Ball, like many of the new bikes in the 09 lineup receives a new Fuel Pump and Fuel Tank. The Fuel Pump assembly is now designed to be easy to install and service. Now here’s something really cool: A new tilt sensor shuts off the fuel pump if the bike tips over and keeps it off until the ignition key resets the system. And in the tip over arena is a new two-piece die cast foot peg that provides improved durability in the case of a tip over. The brake and shift lever both pivot and are now made of steel and are less prone to breakage if the bike happens to fall on its side. While it’s not the same as the Vision’s Tip Over Protection, it is a step in the right direction.

One interesting change that Victory is billing as an improvement that has me scratching my head is the Tank Badges. While the previous models included a full color tank badge, Victory is launching a new monochrome tank badge that is promoted to be the badge of its second decade. While some folks feel that the monochrome badge is a step in the right direction, personally, I liked the old color one on most of the models. But, I have to admit that the monochrome badge stays within the color theme of the 8-Ball and it does look cool.

Speaking of Colors, the 8-Ball retains its all black theme with black wheels, handlebars, mirrors, belt guard, sprocket and hey, just about anything that can be blacked-out on this bike is blacked-out. Simply stated that’s why they call it the 8-Ball!

Okay, let’s make this simple. If you compare the Vegas against the Vegas 8-Ball, other than the obvious fact that the 8-Ball is colored black, the main differences are that other Vegas include a six speed transmission and a passenger seat while the 8-Ball retains its five speed transmission and solo seat.

That’s it for the 2009 Vegas 8-Ball.

So, what do you think? Feel free to post your comments in this forum.

The price for the Victory Vegas starts at $13,799.
