Here’s the scoop for the 2009 Victory Hammer and the Hammer S. I’ll start with the Hammer and then I’ll get to what’s new for the Hammer S. Let’s get the big news for the Hammer and Hammer S out of the way first:

The 2009 Victory Hammer will now include the Next Generation Freedom V-Twin, 106 cubic inch, 1731 cc Powerplant. It includes Stage 2 Cams and closed loop fuel injection. Although the 106cc engine first appeared on the 2008 Vision, the cruiser version has been tweaked to generate 97 horsepower and 113 foot pounds of torque. Of course it’s paired with a 6-speed transmission with overdrive.

With that said and out of the way, the returning features for the 2009 Hammer and Hammer S models are the signature inverted cartridge type forks on the front suspension and of course the unique rear end that showcases its fat 250 millimeter rear tire. The 09 Hammer still maintains its long and low aggressive riding position, V-style handlebars and the custom inspired fuel tank. The Passenger Pad is still concealed under a removable color matched cowl that allows for solo riding as well as a quick, easy conversion for two-up riding. That’s it for the returning features, now let’s check out what’s new for 2009:

As stated, the 2009 Hammers now include the new 106 cubic engine. In addition, there’s a newly styled taillight that incorporates multiple LEDs that promise to produce twice the brightness while running or braking.

For the first time, the Hammer is pre-wired for Cruise Control and can be easily added at anytime by the dealer.  Of course, like other accessories, an additional charge will apply for the Cruise Control. But hey, if you choose to add a Cruise Control, just having the wiring in place is a good thing as it saves you time and money if you choose to add this feature. The cruise control will be similar to the module found on the Victory Vision and, unlike some of the cruise controls found on other touring bikes, it’s similar in operation to an automobile in functionality.

The Hammer also receives a new headlight treatment that features easy bulb replacement by simply removing two 4mm socket head bolts. And yes, a 4mm Allen wrench is now included on the Unitool and it stows away under the side cover so you’ll know where it is when you need it. The headlight’s reflector is new as well and promises to provide a brighter, more uniform light pattern on the road.

The Hammer and Hammer S now include a new Fuel Pump and Fuel Tank. The Fuel Pump assembly is now designed to be easy to install and service. Now here’s something really cool:  New for 2009 is a new tilt sensor that shuts off the fuel pump if the bike tips over and keeps it off until the ignition key resets the system. And in the area of tip-over protection, there’s a new two-piece die cast foot peg that provides improved durability in the case of a tip over. The brake and shift lever pivot and are now made of steel and according to the factory are less prone to breakage if the bike happens to fall on its side. While it’s not the same as the Vision’s Tip Over Protection, it appears to be a step in the right direction.

There’s one interesting change for the Hammer and all the 2009 Victory Cruisers that I’d like to have your opinion on. It’s the tank badge. While the previous models included a full color tank badge, Victory is launching a new monochrome tank badge that is promoted to be the badge of its second decade.

Victory is incorporating the new monochrome tank badges on all of its bikes with the exception of the Vision Premium models which maintain the illuminated color badge.

I’m curious as to what you think of the new monochrome tank badge. Which do you prefer? The old color or the new monochrome badge? To vote, just click the Polls link at the top of the page and cast your vote on which one you prefer…Color or Monochrome. Remember, while you can view the polls, forums, galleries, videos and everything we have online, you need to register to be able to cast your vote in the polls, upload photos or videos or participate in the forums. Registration is free, takes less than a minute and we don’t ask any intrusive questions…Really!

The Hammer also includes the new Stingray cast wheels and feature highlighted spokes…they are available with black or silver sprockets. Allow me to add that if you get this bike with the black wheels, the rotors and sprockets are blackened as well.

Like all the bikes in the Victory line, the Hammer can easily be customized to deliver multiple personalities. The accessory count for the Hammer line is now up to 220 items. Simply stated, you can dress this bike up any way you want.

Speaking of Color, here’s the new colors for the 2009 Hammer:

Solid Super Graphite, Sunset Red with Extreme Graphics, Nuclear Sunset with Extreme Graphics and of course, Solid Black.

Now, let’s get to the features of the 2009 Hammer S. The 09 Hammer S will be available in a new,  Blue X-Factor color scheme. Per Victory, this color scheme is inspired by the muscle cars of yesteryear, it includes the custom paint scheme of Boardwalk Blue with white racing stripes. The headlight and fenders are also custom painted as well to carry through the theme from stem to stern.

The 2009 Hammer S also includes new X-Factor wheels and are nearly 16 pounds lighter than last year’s Hammer wheels.

My opinion:

New design like me very well. My favourite color is Solid Super Graphite and on the second place is Sunset Red with Extreme Graphics, but solid black is solid black :-)...my Hammer. Monochrome tank badge like more than color... I like this combination and I prefer tenuity (my job is design ... modern and design Interior). I am looking to forward to the accessory, because custom my bike (car) is my hobbies.

I thing... very good job!!!
